Dear Virgil,

There are several reasons why I don't think ARCH could mean "ruler"
in this passage. One is that ARCH doesn't have a definite article.
We know the Christ is not "a rule" but "the Ruler". Also "ruler"
just doesn,t seem to fit the context. In 1Cor.15:24 obviously it fits
the context. Also ARCH in context with PRWTOTOKOS suggests
the first cause or origin of a long line of others born from the dead.
I noticed that someone mentioned to you how ARCH along with
PRWTOTKOS and PRWTEUWN was "relating to that which is *first* "
I just couldn't see how they could get from "first" in a long line of
others to "ruler". I'm still puzzled by that. As far as I can tell
1Cor. 15:24 is the only place in the NT where "rule" fits the
context. And even here, it doesn't say that Chirst is "the Ruler".

Sincerely,
Harry W. Jones
