The first syllable is uncontroversial and directly represents the
Hebrew, reading qamets hatuph in the pointed text. The final syllable
adds a nu because of the following vowel. The middle syllable quite
closely represents the 'uh' sound probably associated with 'ayin in the
consonantal text, and is far better than the emphasised 'O' of the
English transliteration, even working from the reduced vowel of the
pointed version.
