Ken,

I'll second Randall's suggestions of DA Black's "Linguistics..." and
Louw, Nida, Cronje, Snyman's "Style and Discourse". These are excellent
works.

Add to the list, JP Louw's "Semantics of NT Greek". This work is truly
brilliant. It points out the problems with etymologies and the like and
presents a much fuller picture of the meaning of language based on
larger literary units. The book, as the title suggests, focusses on the
discource analysis of the NT.
