Last weekend Eric Weiss reposted a comment on the use
of "EF' hWi" in the NT. His observation was that it
often means "because" or (per BAGD) "for this reason: that".
His question is: why not use this same interpretation in
Philip. 3.12 (a fair summary, Eric?).

For what it's worth, Eric, several months ago I went through
the NT uses of "EF' hWi" myself and came to much the same
conclusion: That it could fairly uniformly be approximated
by something like "on the basis of the fact that". And that
interpretation does seem to make sense in Philip. 3.12.

But I would be interested in reactions from those more
seasoned.
