Would anyone understand "from the top" in any other sense than "again"? Can it really have the sense of "from above"? It also has a strong connotation of rehearsing a performance. This is certainly dynamic, but how equivalent is it? The point I was really trying to make, however, is that resolving ambiguities does not always get at the meaning. Sometimes it obscures it.
