"Poimandres" ("the Shepherd of Men" ?) is the name of the first and
more important writing of the Corpus Hermeticum, although you can find the
name "Poimandres" applied to the whole Corpus in old texts. Lesky called
the Hermetic treatises the "Pagan sister of Gnosis".
The text was edited by Reitzenstein in 1904, and later by W. Scott
(this is the edition used by LSJ, see under "Corpus Hermeticum"). i.a., but
the best edition available today is A.D. Nock and A.-J. Festugi¸re "Corpus
Hermeticum", vol. 1. Paris: Les Belles Lettres, 1946 (repr. 1972): 7-19,
used by DGE and TLG #E. The greater part of the remains from the Corpus
Hermeticum was edited in 4 volumes by the same editors in Les Belles
Lettres, with a french translation facing the Greek text, and abundant
notes.
