In addition to the advice from Carl Conrad and Clayton Stirling
Bartholomew, you might want to read some excerpts from Deissmann's
_Light from the Ancient East_ and from A. T. Robertson's monster
grammar on the idea of Greek as a sacred language. I don't know of any
Jewish sources that describe any kind of Greek as a sacred language,
but there have certainly been Christian sources that did so. The very
title of this forum, "Biblical Greek", is likely an echo of that
doctrine, for at one time the Greek of the New Testament (i.e.,
"Biblical Greek") was thought of as a special sacred language, a vessel
uniquely suited to expressing the inspired message of God.

The discovery of the non-literary papyri in Egypt and research into the
development and spread of a common form of Greek ("Koine") as a
_lingua_franca_ throughout the Mediterranean world in the wake of
Alexander's conquest have, for most scholars, pretty thoroughly
debunked this idea.
