I think you're right in saying that, because of the genitive GUNAIKWN and
the apparent reference of TINES back to TOIS IDIOIS ANDRASIN as antecedent,
the statement really seems addressed to the congregation as a whole
generally. I think that the participle hUPOTASSOMENAI does indeed carry
imperatival force, but I'd be more inclined to read (and translate it) as
equivalent to a 3rd-person imperative, hUPOTASSESQWSAN rather than to a 2
pl. imperative, hUPOTASSESQE. And then the idea must be that the behavior
of wives may assist in the correction of misbehaving husbands.
