Dear Clay,
One thought to add to what you wrote Abilene is that 2 Corinthians was
written, according to the view of most, some time after Galatians. My NIV
Study Bible dates 2 Corinthians to A.D. 55, but Galatians to either A.D.
48-49 or 51-53. Paul seems to speak in 2 Cor 12:2 of a time fourteen years
earlier than the date of his letter. It is "fourteen years ago" according
to the UBS GNT Concise Dictionary's understanding of the function of PRO in
2 Cor 12:2: PRTO ETWN DEKATESSARWN. On the other hand, Galatians speaks of
an event fourteen years after his conversion or his trip to Jerusalem. And
those fourteen years would precede the date of the writing of Galatians. So
the two references to "fourteen years" may not be directly related.
